Despite the cost of the beautiful red roses, expensive dinners and the gaining of pounds from eating too much chocolate, Valentine’s Day is an occasion to prove your eternal, everlasting love to your sweetheart To single peers, this year could be an occasion not even worth trying to remember, by denying the existence of love altogether because their most beloved.
But as we have seen, Valentine’s Day has become a day to forget about yourself - to put another’s interests above that of your own. This act of selflessness must surely be the true expression of one’s love for another. It is said that love based on self-interest is shameful, and true love can only be found in those willing to give up anything and everything for their partner’s sake. Yes, this premise is said to be the roots and life-force of the strongest love of all.
Reflecting the true meaning of Valentine’s Day entails expressing your love for another. Lavish gifts are not necessities. A gesture such as a love poem, a collection of pictures or a recreation of a first date may be all that is necessary to get your loved one’s heart all fluttery with love butterflies.
